The position

We are seeking a CFO who combines rigorous financial leadership, strategic vision, and sector expertise to catalyze our next phase of growth, strengthen investor confidence, and scale sustainable impact.

In this position, you will:

  • Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning; partner with CEO and exec team on growth and profitability.
  • Own fundraising and investor relations: equity/debt processes, data room, board materials, and ongoing investor communication.
  • Ensure strong financial operations and controls: accounting, treasury, cash management, tax, audit, and compliance (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Drive performance management: define KPIs, build dashboards, and enable data-driven decisions across Sales, Ops, and R&D.
  • Oversee risk management: financial, operational, and cybersecurity; implement policies and internal controls.
  • Support market expansion and partnerships: business case modeling, due diligence (M&A/alliances), and post-deal integration.
  • Optimize unit economics and working capital: pricing, margins, inventory/production financing, and supplier terms.
  • Lead finance systems and automation: ERP and reporting improvements for accuracy, speed, and scalability.
  • Guide international scaling: intercompany structures, transfer pricing, and tax planning.
  • Build and develop a high-performing finance team and culture.

Tasks & responsibilities

Daily activities include:

  • Manage cash and liquidity: daily cash position, 13-week cashflow, payment approvals, and covenant monitoring.
  • Review weekly forecast vs. actuals; run scenario and sensitivity analyses for demand, cost, and capex decisions.
  • Prepare monthly close and management reporting; ensure timely reconciliations and accuracy.
  • Lead investor/board updates; maintain data room and KPI pack; support fundraising process steps as needed.
  • Evaluate and approve capex and major procurement; track ROI and payback.
  • Partner with Operations/Engineering on BOM/cost reductions, pricing, and make/buy decisions.
  • Oversee tax filings, payroll, and audit readiness; respond to auditor requests.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and segregation of duties.
  • Own grant/incentive management and reporting (e.g., WBSO and other relevant programs).
  • Coach, hire, and develop finance team members; manage external advisors (banks, auditors, legal).

Required & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree in Finance/Accounting (MBA/advanced degree preferred).
  • Experience: 10-15 years in senior finance roles, ideally in scale-ups, cleantech, energy storage, or manufacturing.
  • Technical: Deep financial modeling, GAAP/IFRS, capital markets, and AI deployment.
  • Leadership: Board/investor experience, process improvement, and international operations.
  • Sector Knowledge: Battery tech, energy storage, renewables, and experience with government incentives are clear advantages.
